I Was Ambushed To Leave Office;Former CS Muturi.

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has revealed that he was abruptly instructed to vacate his office, describing the experience as an ambush. Muturi disclosed that he received a letter on March 26, 2025, informing him that he was to hand over his duties to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. The letter arrived on Friday, March 28, giving him little time to prepare for the transition.

Muturi explained that the handover process was postponed to April 1 due to the lack of prepared handover notes. He emphasized the importance of providing comprehensive notes detailing his accomplishments during his tenure, which spanned seven and a half months. Despite the short notice, Muturi expressed gratitude to Mudavadi for his understanding during the transition.

The former CS’s dismissal has sparked controversy, with Muturi asserting that his removal was not due to poor performance or absenteeism, as claimed by President William Ruto. Instead, he believes his outspoken stance on critical issues, such as enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, led to tensions within the administration. Muturi had repeatedly raised these concerns in letters to the President, urging their inclusion in Cabinet discussions. However, he claims that his efforts were ignored, and the issues were never addressed.

Muturi’s absence from Cabinet meetings was cited as a reason for his dismissal, but he defended his actions, stating that his absence was a form of protest against the government’s inaction on human rights violations. He expressed shock at Ruto’s televised claim that the Cabinet had resolved these issues, insisting that they were never discussed.

The fallout between Muturi and Ruto has drawn public attention, with Muturi accusing the President of misrepresenting the reasons behind his dismissal. He criticized Ruto for allegedly prioritizing political narratives over addressing serious governance challenges. Muturi’s revelations have fueled skepticism about the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

As Muturi navigates the aftermath of his dismissal, he remains vocal about the need for leadership that prioritizes human rights and the rule of law. His stance has resonated with many Kenyans who view his actions as a principled stand against impunity. The controversy surrounding his removal highlights the complexities of governance and the challenges faced by leaders advocating for systemic change.
